On 19 February, 2026, the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council voted unanimously to support a call for more information and better infrastructure planning regarding a proposed 18-storey building in Port Macquarie, New South Wales.

The development at 29 Park Street is planned to include 210 apartments, with 35 of those designated as affordable homes. The project, led by developer Planet Warriewood, also includes space on the ground floor for shops and entertainment venues.

The proposal has been declared a State Significant Development by the NSW Government, which moves the final decision-making power from the local council to the state planning minister. This declaration happened on 19 December, 2025, and local councillors noted they were not consulted before the decision was made.

At 55 to 60 metres tall, the proposed tower would be nearly three times the height of current local limits, which are set between 16 and 19 metres for that area. This height difference has raised questions about how the building will fit into the existing town centre plan.

Mayor Adam Roberts is now seeking a meeting with state officials to discuss how local roads, water, and sewage systems will handle the extra demand. The project will eventually be open for community feedback once a formal Environmental Impact Statement is submitted to the state government.
