Residents in Mango Hill, Queensland, are being urged to stay alert following a wave of fake sales and phishing emails reported on 21 February, 2026. This community-led warning aims to prevent locals from falling victim to identity theft or financial loss by encouraging neighbours to double-check any suspicious messages.
The alert was first raised within the Not Grey Nomads – The Group! Facebook community, where members shared stories of receiving deceptive emails. These messages often pretend to offer large discounts on local goods or services to trick people into giving away their private bank or personal details.
Mango Hill is a fast-growing area, with records from the City of Moreton Bay showing a population increase of over 5 per cent between 2022 and 2023. This rapid growth and high level of online shopping in the region can make the suburb a frequent target for digital scammers.
Residents are being advised to check the identity of any sender and avoid clicking links or downloading attachments in unexpected emails. While the Queensland Police Service handles official reports of fraud, local social media groups remain a key way for neighbours to share safety information and protect each other.
