The Laidley Library in Queensland is welcoming local residents to join its regular writers’ group as part of a new set of community events for 2026. The group is designed to help local people improve their writing skills and connect with other creative residents without having to travel far from home.

These meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. For the month of March 2026, the sessions are planned for 10 March and 24 March, and the library encourages new members of all skill levels to attend.

The Lockyer Valley Regional Council is also hosting special guest speakers, starting with author Frances Harding on 4 March, 2026. She will visit the nearby Gatton branch at 10:00 am to talk about her book, The Accidental Publican, which describes her move from the city to run a historic hotel in Charleville.

While the writers’ group is a free walk-in event, the council requires essential bookings for the author talks due to limited space. Councillor Julie Reck said these library programs are important for creating strong community links and supporting local people in their creative hobbies.
