Schools and community groups in Laidley, Queensland, can now use a new online toolkit to help plan local events for NAIDOC Week, which will be held from 5 July to 12 July, 2026.
The National NAIDOC Committee has provided the free resource to help locals organise respectful activities, offering items like event checklists, logos, and templates. The guide also gives advice on how to work with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to include Elders and arrange a Welcome to Country.
There is also money available to help run these events through a grant program offering up to $3 million, managed by the National Indigenous Australians Agency. Local organisers have until 2.00pm (AEST) on 19 February, 2026, to submit their applications for funding through the government portal.
While a version of the Supporting NAIDOC Toolkit is ready to use now, a specific 2026 edition is expected to be released around May or June. This gives volunteers and clubs in Laidley time to prepare their celebrations before the official week begins in July.
