The National Trust of Australia (NSW) is opening two of Goulburn’s most significant historic sites for self-guided tours during the Summer 2026 season. From December 2025 to February 2026, residents and visitors in Goulburn, New South Wales, can explore Riversdale Homestead and Garroorigang Historic Home at their own pace.

This program moves away from strictly timed group tours to allow people to walk through the colonial buildings using digital or printed guides. The National Trust of Australia (NSW) and the Hume family, who own Garroorigang, have also highlighted accessibility features such as ramps, accessible-height intercoms, and sensory-friendly information to make visits easier for people with diverse needs.

Riversdale Homestead, located at 2 Twynam Drive, was originally a coaching inn built around 1840. It is well known for its historic gardens and for Emily Rose Twynam’s botanical sketches and intricate wooden sculptures; the property later became the home of Edward Twynam, who served as Surveyor‑General of New South Wales.

Garroorigang Historic Home at 209 Braidwood Road served as the Goulburn Grammar School (a boarding school for boys) in the late 1800s. According to Visit NSW, the house contains a rare collection of original Victorian furniture and household items that have been preserved by the Hume family for more than 150 years.

Visitors can collect brochures for the summer tours at the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre. Opening times for Riversdale are typically on Sundays, while visits to Garroorigang can be made by appointment or during specific summer program blocks throughout 2026. Check the National Trust (NSW) website and Garroorigang’s official site for exact opening days and booking details.
