The NSW Police Force is urging residents in Goulburn, New South Wales, to stay away from low-lying roads and bridges following minor rises in nearby rivers. This safety advice was issued on 23 February 2026, with authorities expecting potential travel disruptions over the weekend of 28 February and 1 March 2026.

According to the Goulburn Flood Study Report, the area where the Wollondilly and Mulwaree rivers meet is a critical zone for safety monitoring. Drivers are encouraged to avoid flood-prone spots such as the Lansdowne Bridge on Braidwood Road and the Victoria Street Bridge, as well as low-lying sections of Avoca, Bellevue, and Kenmore Streets.

The NSW Police Force has started increased patrols in the region and is asking the community to secure their belongings and report any suspicious activity. This extra police presence is intended to keep the community safe and protect property while changing weather conditions may make local travel more difficult.

Local officials, including the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and safety agencies, are monitoring water levels at sites like Marsden Weir and Murrays Flat using the Wollondilly and Mulwaree Rivers Flood Study guidelines. Residents are reminded to never drive through floodwaters and to plan alternative routes if they live in areas like Eastgrove that can become isolated by rising water.
