Residents in Fernvale, Queensland, can no longer submit feedback on a major regional water project after the public comment period closed on 17 February 2026. The feedback was for an environmental report regarding the Toowoomba to Warwick pipeline, which will change how water is managed across the region.

The project is managed by Seqwater and involves building a new 109-kilometre pipeline and making significant upgrades to the Wivenhoe Pump Station near Fernvale. As part of these upgrades, the pump station will be moved to a higher location above flood levels to better protect the equipment during heavy rain.

The work is part of a project funded by the Queensland Government to help regional towns stay resilient against drought. Once finished, the pipeline will carry water from Wivenhoe Dam to provide a backup supply for Warwick and a permanent supply for the towns of Cambooya, Greenmount, Nobby, and Clifton.

The environmental report identified several threatened species in the area that must be considered during the project. These include the Koala, the Murray Cod, and the Condamine Earless Dragon.

With the feedback period now finished, the project moves into the final assessment phase with federal regulators. Residents can look for future findings from the public submissions and the start of major construction works at the pump site.
