The Queensland Government has allocated $5 million for the Fernvale South Productivity Link to build road infrastructure for 2,000 new homes in Fernvale, Queensland. Work on the project began in February 2026 to improve traffic flow and prepare the region for a growing population.

According to the Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O’Connor, the funding will remove road bottlenecks that have slowed down local development. The project focuses on major road improvements between the Brisbane Valley Highway and Old Fernvale Road to provide better connections for residents.

Construction crews will seal sections of Muckerts Lane and McCulkins Lane that were previously unsealed. These upgrades are designed to create new routes for drivers and reduce the amount of traffic traveling through the middle of the town centre.

The Somerset Regional Council and the state government are working together to deliver the upgrades. Residents and visitors should expect some traffic delays and disruptions along the Brisbane Valley Highway while the construction is underway.
