The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a forecast warning for Esk, Queensland, forecasting heavy rain and a risk of flash flooding early on Friday 13 February 2026. BOM’s Esk forecast (issued at 5:19 am AEST on Thursday 12 February 2026) shows a 100% chance of rain for Friday with possible falls of 30 to 120 mm and warns: “Heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding possible.” A Flood Watch for parts of southeast Queensland was issued on 11 February 2026 as severe thunderstorms are expected to bring intense falls.

Somerset Regional Council is encouraging residents to move vehicles, outdoor equipment and valuables to higher ground and to take other preparedness steps to reduce damage. The heavy rain is likely to cause short-term travel delays and may lead to the flooding of low-lying properties and local roads. Residents should expect these conditions to continue from Friday morning into Saturday 14 February 2026.

Get Ready Queensland is urging people not to drive into floodwater under its ‘If it’s flooded, forget it’ campaign. Emergency agencies also advise staying away from creeks and drains during heavy downpours and finding an alternative route if a road is flooded.
