General volunteers at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus have donated $2,508 to help upgrade vital safety equipment for the hospital’s cardiac laboratory.

The funds were used to purchase a lightweight lead apron with a neck guard, along with three additional neck guards for the team working in the cardiac catheter laboratory. This equipment helps protect staff from radiation exposure during complex heart procedures.

The Mid North Coast Local Health District announced the donation on 1 April 2026, noting that this contribution is in addition to two other aprons donated by the volunteers last year. The health district expressed gratitude for the ongoing support provided by the volunteer group.

The cardiac catheter laboratory was one of the areas upgraded during a $194 million expansion project at the hospital that concluded in 2023. As a 357-bed teaching hospital, the facility serves as a major medical hub for approximately 81,000 residents across the Coffs Harbour, Bellingen, and Nambucca Valley areas.

Lydia Dennett serves as the General Manager of the health campus and the Coordinator of the Coffs Clinical Network.
