The City of Coffs Harbour has confirmed that vehicles and boat launching are now strictly prohibited at Park Beach in New South Wales as of February 2026. This formal update clarifies that the beach is a pedestrian-only zone to ensure the safety of swimmers and visitors. The decision follows recent community discussions about how to manage traffic and improve the local area.

The new rules mean that cars, trucks, and boats are not allowed on the sand at any time. According to the City of Coffs Harbour official beach driving policy, Park Beach is not listed as a place where people can drive or park. This move formalises the council’s plan to prioritise people walking and using the beach for recreation over vehicle access.

The council previously held community meetings at the Park Beach Bowls Club on 2 December, 2025, to talk about these changes. These sessions were part of a broader project to improve the streets and public spaces near the Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club. Local residents and business owners were invited to share their views on how to make the area more functional for everyone.

Boat owners who traditionally used the beach will now need to use the Coffs Harbour Regional Boat Ramp for launching. While this is the designated alternative, the ramp has recently faced issues with sand building up and water surges. For those who still wish to drive on the sand, Boambee Beach remains available for four-wheel-drive vehicles just south of the area.
