The Coffs Harbour Racing Club has added a major regional qualifier for The Country Championships to its calendar for Sunday, 15 February 2026, at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club & Function Centre, 2 Howard Street, Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.
The event is a Northern Rivers regional qualifier for The Country Championships, Racing NSW’s signature country-racing series. The qualifier is a prestigious regional heat that serves as a gateway to the $1,000,000 Country Championships state final at Royal Randwick on 4 April 2026. Qualifiers have historically carried around $150,000 in prize money.
Tim Saladine, CEO of the Coffs Harbour Racing Club, said the event is an important boost for the community and local businesses. “By creating a ‘Festival of Racing’ we are confident of attracting as many visitors as possible to Coffs which will flow on to local businesses and accommodation,” Saladine said.
The day will include an eight-race program with entertainment and family activities at the racecourse. Organisers typically coordinate with Coffs Harbour City Council and the Coffs-Clarence Police District to manage traffic and public safety for major race meets; organisers say they will liaise with those agencies ahead of the 15 February meeting to finalise any necessary arrangements.
The top two country-trained horses from the Coffs Harbour qualifier will earn a place in the state final, which is scheduled for Saturday, 4 April 2026 at Royal Randwick.
