The City of Coffs Harbour in New South Wales is currently refining the route for a new six-kilometre walking and cycling network designed to link West Coffs residents to the city centre. This project aims to provide safer travel options for roughly 12,000 people moving between their homes, local schools, and parks.
The proposed path will feature three main sections that connect to Combine Street, Spagnolos Road, and Pearce Drive. According to the City of Coffs Harbour, council staff are currently reviewing feedback from the community to ensure the final design addresses concerns regarding property access and safety at road crossings.
The network will consist of paths between 2.5 and 3 metres wide and will include the construction of new bridges over local creeks. A major part of the plan involves a new underpass at the old Pacific Highway near Coffs Street, which will allow residents to walk or ride safely into the city centre once the highway bypass is completed.
Funding for the project is being provided by the NSW Government, and the council plans to begin construction during the 2026-27 financial year. This timeline depends on the council successfully securing further grants to cover the building costs for the initial stages of the path.
