Blacktown City Council has officially announced Laura Corvalan Sotomayor and Sardip Guha as the 2026 Youth Ambassadors. The two were selected from a field of 88 applicants to represent the voices of young people across the local community over the next 12 months.

The successful candidates were announced by the council on 8 April 2026. They follow the 2025 ambassadors, Caiden Bond of Mount Druitt and Jiyaa Sahdev of The Ponds, who served in the role throughout the previous year.

During their year-long term, the new ambassadors will attend citizenship ceremonies, civic receptions, and youth forums. They will also join the Blacktown Youth Advisory Committee, which works on community projects and events for young people, as well as committees focused on sister cities.

The Youth Ambassador Program has been operating in the area since 1983. Over the past four decades, the initiative has aimed to help young people build skills in public speaking and community service while participating in local government.
