The Homeless United program has successfully connected hundreds of residents with long-term housing across the Redlands region, according to current data from the Redland Community Centre. While the center’s website reports that more than 800 people have been successfully housed since the initiative began, other sector reports from Neighbourhood Centres Queensland have placed the figure as high as 1,057 individuals supported into housing.

The program launched in 2018 and provides one-on-one case management to assist people in finding stable homes and gaining paid employment. In addition to housing support, figures from the Homeless United Program show that the team had served 9,116 dinners to locals in need by January 2021.

While the project was previously funded by the Queensland government between 2020 and 2021, it now relies on community donations to remain operational. To support the service, local residents raised $33,000 in late 2022 to cover ongoing costs after the program was unsuccessful in a government tender process.

Other local groups also offer critical assistance in the area, including Night Ninjas Inc, which provides food, survival packs, and crisis accommodation. This volunteer group runs a regular outreach service at the car park on the corner of Birkdale Road and Mary Street in Birkdale every Thursday night to assist those experiencing homelessness.
