The Queensland Government has released a new energy plan that aims to make power more reliable and affordable for homes and businesses in Beaudesert, Queensland.

The Queensland Energy Roadmap 2025 was published by Queensland Treasury to outline how the state will manage its power plants and equipment through 2030 and beyond. The strategy focuses on keeping electricity prices down while building new storage and power lines to meet future needs.

Beaudesert homes and businesses are served by Energex, which is part of Energy Queensland. Under the new plan, the government will fund a $10 million community battery program and introduce a new guarantee to make power connections easier for local residents.

Modelling from Queensland Treasury shows that running state-owned coal plants until they reach the end of their working life could save $26 billion in total costs. Officials say this approach could lead to an annual savings of roughly $1,035 per household compared to closing those plants earlier.

The plan also includes a $1.6 billion guarantee for power plant maintenance and a $400 million fund to help attract private investment for new projects through a special investor gateway. Tenders for new gas-fired power generation in Central Queensland are opening in early 2026, with a goal to have 400 megawatts of extra capacity ready by 2032.
