Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Miles

A 74-year-old man from Tara has died following a two-vehicle collision on the Warrego Highway near Columboola on the morning of 10 April 2026.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Campion Road, approximately 14 kilometres east of Miles, around 9:20am. The incident involved a white Mitsubishi Triton and a black Holden Crewman. The 74-year-old man died at the scene, while a 37-year-old man from Chinchilla was transported to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Queensland Police Service Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are calling for anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage or information about the incident, or who witnessed the vehicles in the area prior to the crash, to contact them.

Columboola is a small rural locality situated in the Western Downs Region, approximately 280 kilometres west-northwest of Brisbane. The stretch of the Warrego Highway where the crash occurred is a major rural corridor where speed limits can reach 110 kilometres per hour.
